Following the village assembly on the 28 May 2024, a group of village volunteers has been set up to work with Fresh Start for Hens  (chicken welfare/ rescue charity). The group is to work on a short term plan to review the chickens’ health. It is believed a number of the chickens have a condition known as scaly leg mite, which can be very painful. The aim is to also ensure the balance between hens and cockerels is improved.  The group will also be looking at a longer term plan to ensure the chickens are looked after, fed ( proper chicken food) and watered, and that there are regular general welfare checks.
