Potholes

Norfolk County Council are responsible for repairing most of the roads and pavements in Norfolk. However National Highways are responsible for trunk roads, such as the A149. If you spot a problem on the A149, it can still be reported to Norfolk County Council and they will pass it on to National Highways.

Tips on reporting a Pothole or problem

  • Make a note of exactly where it is “At the Junction with Lynn Road and Strickland Avenue, Snettisham” (for example).
  • Take photos of the defect and take a note of it’s dimensions (particularly the depth). The deeper the pothole, the more likelihood of it being repaired sooner.
  • Take photos in close up to show the depth and other dimensions.
  • Take photos from a slight distance to show the context of exactly where it is.
  • If you know exactly how long it has been there, give this information.
  • If you have reported it previously give this information, including the date. The council try to fix potholes within 6 weeks, so any dates of previous reports are key.
