  • Update on Church Road Play Area

We know that so many of the children are raring to go, and use the new play equipment. The situation remains that we are still waiting on the contractor to finish. Unfortunately it is not within our control, apart from chasing. Equipment for the group swing is awaited from a third party supplier. We have been told the equipment was “dispatched” and is on-route. Once it has arrived, the ‘snagging list’ and re-surfacing will also be done at the same time. Once finished the new equipment also needs to be inspected by ROSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents). We were hoping for an update at some point today. Please bear with us, we are doing our best to chase and get this completed. Lodge Lane Play Area is still open for play.

  • Village survey 2024 (Now closed)

The council has just launched an online survey to seek villagers’ views on the village. You can take the survey here. The survey is completely anonymous. The closing date for the survey will be the end of August.

Paper version of the survey is being distributed around the village and with village groups. The paper survey can also be obtained at the Parish Council offices.

Should anyone wish to try the online survey, but do not have the facilities, people are welcome to attend the parish office where the clerk will assist with the technology.

  • Chickens update

Following the village assembly on the 28 May 2024, a group of village volunteers has been set up to work with Fresh Start for Hens  (chicken welfare/ rescue charity). The group is to work on a short term plan to review the chickens’ health. It is believed a number of the chickens have a condition known as scaly leg mite, which can be very painful. The aim is to also ensure the balance between hens and cockerels is improved.  The group will also be looking at a longer term plan to ensure the chickens are looked after, fed ( proper chicken food) and watered, and that there are regular general welfare checks.

  • Chickens at Common Road

Contrary to press reporting in the Eastern Daily Press and the Guardian, we are not threatening to “Evict” the Chickens or remove them. We are seeking specialist advice from various sources, only one of which, is Fresh Start for Hens. We have sought advice from this particular rescue charity as they are experts in the needs; behaviour; health and welfare of chickens. We have also invited villagers to come along to a meeting, to discuss the issue with the chickens, so we may gauge public opinion. Only after we have all the information, will the Parish Council decide if it needs to make any kind of decision, if at all.

If you would like to attend the meeting ( which is not a council meeting- nor is it a meeting solely about the Chickens), please come to the Annual Parish Assembly on Tuesday 28th May 2024 @ 6pm at the Memorial Hall Snettisham.

  • New Chair and  Vice Chair

On Tuesday 14 May 2024, Cllr Julie Smith was elected the new Chair of the Parish Council. Cllr Hannah Whyman-Naveh was elected Vice- Chair.

  • D-Day  6 June 2024

We will be lighting the village beacon, along with many other villages and towns all over the country.
